Students to take part in prestigious Model UN conferences

&NewLine;<p><img class&equals;" alignright size-full wp-image-1705" src&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;schoolnewsnz&period;fastrackdev&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2015&sol;08&sol;SND18-wk3-Model&lowbar;UN&period;jpg" alt&equals;"SND18-wk3-Model UN" style&equals;"margin&colon; 5px&semi; float&colon; right&semi;" width&equals;"300" height&equals;"201" &sol;>In January 2016&comma; 10 outstanding young New Zealanders&comma; who have been chosen to represent Australasia at two of the most prestigious and competitive Model United Nations conferences in the world&comma; will set off for the United States&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p> <&excl;--more--> <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Together with their faculty advisors they will embark on an intensive Ivy League academic study tour&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>This whirlwind tour will give the students the Ivy League experience&comma; immersing them in the culture of each school and showcasing the world-class education programmes the US has to offer&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The students&comma; who are aged between 15 and 18&comma; were selected from across New Zealand and Australia to be a part of this prestigious Australasian delegation&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>At both Harvard and Yale Model United Nations they will be debating a wide range of international issues as part of their two and a half week study tour&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The students selected to be part of the delegation are&colon; Isobel Ryan &lpar;Auckland&rpar;&comma; Nathan Huynh &lpar;Melbourne&rpar;&comma; Carolyn Song &lpar;Auckland&rpar;&comma; Helen Wu &lpar;Auckland&rpar;&comma; Angus Woods &lpar;Brisbane&rpar;&comma; Saurav Bansal &lpar;Auckland&rpar;&comma; Tiger Brown &lpar;Wellington&rpar;&comma; Amay Aggarwal &lpar;Auckland&rpar;&comma; Kate Li &lpar;Auckland&rpar;&comma; Nikki Mehta &lpar;Melbourne&rpar;&comma; Rayna Ravji &lpar;Auckland&rpar;&comma; Eugenia Tsao &lpar;Auckland&rpar; and Sarah Lu &lpar;Auckland&rpar;&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The delegation has already begun the unique training programme in which the students receive guidance on how to produce conference documents such as briefing papers&comma; position papers and resolutions&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>With a delegation-wide Harvard focus&comma; each student is also preparing for Ivy League admissions office visits&comma; lectures and on-campus billeting with students sharing the same study interests as them&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
