Students to take part in prestigious Model UN conferences

In January 2016, 10 outstanding young New Zealanders, who have been chosen to represent Australasia at two of the most prestigious and competitive Model United Nations conferences in the world, will set off for the United States.

Together with their faculty advisors they will embark on an intensive Ivy League academic study tour.

This whirlwind tour will give the students the Ivy League experience, immersing them in the culture of each school and showcasing the world-class education programmes the US has to offer.

The students, who are aged between 15 and 18, were selected from across New Zealand and Australia to be a part of this prestigious Australasian delegation.

At both Harvard and Yale Model United Nations they will be debating a wide range of international issues as part of their two and a half week study tour.

The students selected to be part of the delegation are: Isobel Ryan (Auckland), Nathan Huynh (Melbourne), Carolyn Song (Auckland), Helen Wu (Auckland), Angus Woods (Brisbane), Saurav Bansal (Auckland), Tiger Brown (Wellington), Amay Aggarwal (Auckland), Kate Li (Auckland), Nikki Mehta (Melbourne), Rayna Ravji (Auckland), Eugenia Tsao (Auckland) and Sarah Lu (Auckland).

The delegation has already begun the unique training programme in which the students receive guidance on how to produce conference documents such as briefing papers, position papers and resolutions.

With a delegation-wide Harvard focus, each student is also preparing for Ivy League admissions office visits, lectures and on-campus billeting with students sharing the same study interests as them.
