Deadline for PM’s Education Excellence Awards nears

Remaining nominations are sought for this year’s Prime Minster’s Education Excellence Awards as the entry deadline nears.

In 2020, lockdowns and online learning brought fresh challenges, as well as opportunities. Now is the chance for schools and staff to gain national recognition for their work in the education sector over the past, unprecedented year. Did your school rise to these challenges and achieve great outcomes through adversity? Was there a staff member who shone through and who deserves recognising for their outstanding work? Was your school led in a way that deserves to be celebrated nationwide?

If so, there is still time left to apply – nominations close on Friday 16 April.

Awards include an Education Focus Prize and four categories that remain consistent each year: Excellence in Engaging, Excellence in Leading, Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and Excellence in Wellbeing Education. The Prime Minister’s Supreme Award is then given to the single best overall entry among the four category winners. The Education Focus Prize changes each year to showcase different areas of the New Zealand education landscape and is not eligible for the Supreme Award. This year, a new category has also been added to the list of awards – Excellence in Environmental and Sustainability Education. 

The Prime Minister’s Education Excellence Awards aim ‘to shine a light on teaching best practice by schools, kura, early learning services and kōhanga reo across Aotearoa.
