The Ministry of Education is launching a review of international fee-paying students of ages under Year 9.
New Zealand Principals’ Federation President Perry Rush said, “This is an important review which will examine the appropriateness of having international students younger than year 9 in schools.”
Although he suggested the timing of the review is ‘unfortunate’, he urged educators to have their say in shaping planning for the future of young international students in Aotearoa.
He said, “At this time of year, principals will have little gas left in the tank to respond. However, if this affects you, I encourage you to. NZPF will also submit a response.”
