However, trying to get ākonga in the right frame of mind to absorb and retain information can sometimes be challenging. But there is one way to the classroom calmer.
Introducing Pause Breathe Smile, a mind health programme that helps tamariki regulate emotions, pay attention, and build positive relationships. This enables kids to feel good about themselves and gives them strategies to deal with all kinds of situations.
The whole-school PLD has everything you need to implement a robust, evidence-based wellbeing programme.
Through Pause Breathe Smile, educators learn about wellbeing and mindfulness, discovering powerful ways to help them, and tamariki to thrive.
Thanks to funding from Southern Cross, Pause Breathe Smile is available to every primary and intermediate school across Aotearoa for free. This means every school and kura can benefit from mindfulness and learn in calmer classrooms.
Pause Breathe Smile is backed by robust research with ongoing evaluations, helping to continually improve the programme – resulting in better outcomes for ākonga.
Our bespoke app is free, and features a number of meditations to choose from. While the app is primarily designed to support trained Pause Breathe Smile educators in the classroom, anyone can download and access the mindfulness activities.
The app has a selection of meditations for kids and adults, in Te Reo Māori and English for whānau to practice at home.
You can try the Pause Breathe Smile app by searching on your App Store or visiting pausebreathesmile.nz/app
Our mindfulness programme is now being taught to over 125,000 children in 441 schools by over 8,730 educators, and the numbers are increasing every year. To see the difference Pause Breathe Smile can make in your school, contact us today at coordinator@pausebreathesmile.nz
